1-Sep-2009Really nice tournament with good competition though a few teams may have overstated their qualifications and should have been put into a lower bracket. Being a parent, there are some categories such as application, communication and registration that I rated as "N/A" (thanks for including that as an option). The other categories rated as "N/A" were shirt design because we did not get one and I can't recall the design, medical services were not needed and we did not use the concessions. Referees were only rated as a "3" because there was only one for a U10 game (I know that this is policy) and off-sides were not strictly enforced. The fields, while in good condition, were rated a "3" because an 8v8 field was used for 6v6 games. This led to less than desirable conditions for the girls particularly with how much ground they had to cover and the extreme heat of the weekend. However, these last 2 gripes are relatively minor given the overall quality of this great event.
10-Jul-2008The hotel process was horrible. No assitance was provided even though I requested it several times. I spent an inordinate amount of time trying to make hotel arrangements for my team. I will not come back to your tournament because of this issue.
8-Jul-2008I would add a 2nd official at least and should have a 3rd for all U9/U10 games. We always have 3 officials for our league games and most tournaments we have played in. Even though there was no offsides at the U10 level (you play on a larger field than in Indiana at that level) it is very difficult for one referee to run the field and make appropriate calls. The referees did a good job overall but it was tough for them to see calls on lines and even if a goal crossed the line from a center position. Would have liked to have received more than a patch for each player for entering. At least a pin signifying entry into the tournament with the tourney logo. Website was very good and updated appropriately.

Overall, excellent competition and very nice fields. Really liked the option of registering and checking in online and sending info vs having to go day prior to check in. That was a huge plus and I hope you (and more tournaments) continue to do that going forward. Most definitely a top notch tournament and we will be back next year.
17-Jun-2008The lower mark given to the ref(s) is because we had a ref that did not understand the offside rule. He was unaware that a player can be behind the last defender on the players defensive side of the field and not be offside, this cost the team a break away. I know everyone's view of a call can be different depending on where one might be standing but this was not the issue, all refs should know the rules. Other than that I thought you ran a great tournament!!
4-Jun-2008Vardar East had a wonderful time!
3-Jun-2008My daughter had a wonderful time at the tournament. The fields at Cloud Park and Ankeney wer wonderful. The fields at Vandalia we well maintained, mowed, and lined, but the levelness of the field was terrible. The field had a huge rise in the center. I will say though that I would rather keep Vandalia as a site than reduce the number of teams.
3-Jun-2008After playing 5 games to win a tournament of this ranking, the athletes got medals. The champions and the finalists got the same thing. I think that you could do better.

Some of the fields needed to be lined, and to have trash cans on the player and parent sides.

Need to add a "Not Applicable" button to survey
2-Jun-2008I think I lost my reading glasses at Cloud Field. They are in a brown, half-round case with a decorative brass piece in the middle. If you find them, I would be happy to pay shipping costs to have them sent back to me - we don't have vision insurance so they are expensive for our family. My phone number is (586)726-1225, and my name is Lauri.

It was a great tournament. Thank you to all the staff and host teams! You did a great job and we had fun!
28-May-2008Good tournament. Parking and navigating ANK was difficult (at best). If a team is scheduled to play late on Saturday, they should not have to play the earliest game time in their division on Sunday. Dissappointed with the medals... they do not reflect the level of competition or effort of players during the tournament. No booklets? Out of town teams need a hard copy reference for game times and field location info.
28-May-2008Our team had a really great time the whole week-end.
28-May-2008I really missed not having some type of a program telling you everyones game times and fields. This is a good source for out of state people to see what your town has to offer other than soccer. Places to visit.
27-May-2008Outstanding Tournament! We will definitely bring back our premier teams again next year!!
27-May-2008The only thing I would like to add would have to do with the referees. It is my opinion that an adult should referee the younger games (U-9), especially. There were a few problems on Saturday with a younger referee. The situation was taken care of for the rest of the tournament.

27-May-2008Best tournament I've ever been to!
27-May-2008very good tournament, one of the most organized better run tournament I've attended. Excellent compettition.
27-May-2008If you want a high level of competition, this is the tournament for you.
27-May-2008Great tournament, we'll be back!
27-May-2008Great tournament! Well planned and executed. My only issue is with one team that was allowed to play in a division that was below their skill level. The team that won the championship in the girls U14 Red division should have been placed in the Gold division. The presence of this team certainly skewed the results for all of the other teams. Parents of that team admitted that they were "playing down". In looking at the scores, they had only two competitive games...I'm not sure the reason for playing against less skilled teams other than that team was hardware hunting. I'm sure this is not an uncommon occurrence, but it is disheartening to all of the other teams, and not fair competition when it happens. I urge the tournament directors to carefully scrutinize leagues and league play, regardless of win/loss record, prior to division placement. Other than that one team, it looked as though all of the other teams were of similar skill level. Again, excellent tournament, keep up the good work!
27-May-2008First, thanks and congrats to the Warrior Club for another great tournament. Not only is the WC large, but it is very well done overall. The online info on games scores is great, but sometimes inaccurate. This seems to be winner vs. losing team not the score. The happened twice this year to teams of interest. With the team I manage I was able to get it corrected online before the prelims were complete. The only real disappontment was the medals vs. individual trophies. Our team has been coming to the WC for at least 5 years. Winning it is one of our top team goals and the boys had twice previously been finalists, including last. It was a joy for them to win the championship this year, but a bit of a disappointment to not receive the trophy they have come to know as the lasting symbol of the championship. Overall, great job! Thanks to the club and all of the volunteers, etc!
27-May-2008Very professionally run tournament. Refs were great. The only comment was from my 9 yo son, who was dissappointed that the player awards were the exact same for finalists as champions.
27-May-2008(Most of the first part of this is intended for the administrators of the ticoscore website)

First off, in regard to the above questions; some of these questions should be given the option of N/A to be more fair and meaningful in the evaluation of the tournament. There are some of these that I simply can not answer so I gave them a "3" score. I had nothing to do with our team's application and registration. Additionally, since we are basically an in-town team, we did not use hotels. I did not see the shirts so I can not evaluate them. Additionally, I did not buy anything at the concessions. Since I am not involved in our team's administration, there was not communication between myself and tournament organizers. No medical help was needed by anybody on our team but it did appear to be readily available.

I would suggest that an "N/A" be made available as an answer to your questions. Additionally, some questions could completely be made unavailable based on the reviewer's answer to the "role" question. A parent, player sibling, etc is not going to be able to properly evaluate questions regarding registration, application process, etc.

Now to the tournament –

Positives: The facilities were very clean and the fields were in beautiful condition, particularly the field that we played on at Cloud Park. For the most part, parking seemed to be adequate. There were instances that some diligence needed to be used in finding a spot but in reality the parking situation was probably better when comparing it to other tournaments of similar size. Schedule was tightly adhered to.

Negatives: The first field that we played on at Cloud Park was in great shape but it was the wrong size for a 6 v 6 match. It appeared to be the proper length but, although I am guessing, seemed to be too wide. This is a minor complaint though.

Some teams seemed to abuse the “no off sides” rule knowing that off sides were not going to be called. I witnessed many blatant off sides that were not called by the referees. This should not be a rule and off sides should be called, particularly in a select soccer tournament. The kids should be learning how the game is supposed to be played regardless of their age. This is a rule that seems more applicable to the lower levels of recreational soccer. Also, many referees allowed a great deal of pushing and the use of hands. Overall, the referees did a fairly decent job but the fact that off sides were not being enforced was a real bummer.

While the seeding of teams provided good competition, it appeared that some brackets had inordinate amounts of good talent compared to other brackets. This led to greater disparity in the semi-final games when the competition should be much tighter – not easier. I suggest that the committee seeding the teams be a little more thorough in evaluating the talent in the future.

Overall, a decent tournament though my children have participated in better.

Thanks
27-May-2008I live in Vandalia and went to see the tournament games this weekend. It was very enjoyable and my family had a great time. The level of play was very good and the teams/parents/etc all seemed to be having a good time. I look forward to attending again next year.
27-May-2008Well organized tournament. fields were great, parking was not a problem. The only problem I had is with the host team parents, rude, arrogant, insulted our players and berated the refs. Even a 3-5 year old boy was yelling at the refs. One of the Warrior parents asked that we leave the area we were standing because we were actually defending the refs. And the most ridiculous part of this was THEY WERE WINNING!!! The parents of the Warrior U-13 were embarrasing and represented what the stereotypical bad soccer parent. I will never forget it and am hope the players with such stellar role models rise above the narrow minded and selfish interests of their stupid parents.
Scott Churchill STM U 13 you can print this and give it to their team manager if you wish....give him my email as well
27-May-2008I was a first year referee and greatly enjoyed myself. I just wanted to add was that in all of the 9 games I refereed, I heard nothing but extremely positive comments from the teams, coaches, and parents about the quality of the fields, the communications, tournament management, and the quality of the officiating (although that coach might have been trying to get on my good side, so take that with a grain of salt--smile). In any event, one coach from Michigan said this is the best tournament that his team attends and looks forward to it each year. Keep up the good work.
27-May-2008I note on your website that you have listed(in the Girls U16 Red division) the Erin Mills Eagles as winning the Championship game against the Citadel. I was at that championship game and the award ceremony afterward: The Eagles played The Bloomington Indiana Cutters U16 Girls, not the Citadel. The score was right, though--the Eagles did win 3-2, but it was the Cutters who played that game!!!! Please try to fix this on the website!!!! Thanks...the Cutter girls worked very hard to make it to the Championship game, and we would love to see that recognized!! Thanks you. Charlene Miller(just a parent).
27-May-2008Our third time at this tournament and this time our girls won the Championship. I was VERY pleased with the level of play our girls had. I would like to have seen Trophies instead of Medals but the Medals are very nice.

Thank you,

Lisa Chaney
27-May-2008The fields played at the finals was unacceptable. We played at Thomas Cloud and the field was not flat, there were slight holes which can cause injury. Parking was limited and women's washroom was small and old.

For an elite tournament, you can put a little more budget on the medals or perhaps give a mini trophy for the champions and medals for the finalists.

Overall though well organized, great staff and good competition for the U15 girls.
27-May-2008I was very disappointed in the hotel. I cannot believe the hotel we had was approved by the hotel coordinator. We were at the Hawthorne Suites on Poe rd in Dayton. The hotel was filthy. Several rooms were not clean. 1 room even had rotten food in the microwave and fridge. The beds all had mice feces and debris in them. 1 room smelled of cat urine. Another had an unkept bed. It looked as if someone had slept in it prior to our families check in. Several of our families scrambled Friday eve to find a new hotel. Several families did not locate a new hotel until well after 11pm. Our team was split up over Dayton. It wasn't until Sunday eve were we able to come together. I would highly suggest this hotel not be on the list for the next years acceptable hotel list.
We have stayed in Beavercreek at the Courtyard every year for both the Warrior and CUSA tournaments. I have already booked our rooms for CUSA. I am not taking anymore chances.
The ref's for our semi final game were not much older than our players. They did not control the game and our goalie ended up injured as a result. I would hope that Semis & finals would have more experienced referees in the future.
And lastly, every game other than Semi's and Finals were held at a different park. This made for a trying time to get parents to a different location each time. With gas prices what they are I would hope in the future you centrally locate a team and allow for most of the games to be at one field. Trying to find the new field and place to eat in between was a challenge.
We look fwd every year to good competition your tournament has a reputation for and would hope you take our criticism and make the appropriate changes.
27-May-2008I have to say with as large as the Warrior Classic, the medals that were given to the children as awards were a disappointment, children like trophies big gold loud trophies, also the bag tags that were given were made of cardboard, and won't hold up in the rain.....other then that, very well put together.
27-May-2008This tournament is one od the best. I enjoy it every year.

27-May-2008May want to add a "N/A" since most respondants weren't exposed to some of the items being asked about (i.e. registration, medical, etc.). Default scores of 3 could skew final scoring.

Overall great tournament and great experience.
25-Jan-2008Great tournament across the board. Definitely will play again next year!
