The 33rd Pikes Peak Invitational Tournament, presented by the Colorado Rush Pikes Peak Soccer Club in Colorado Springs, CO is a tournament for premier teams. This event has hosted more than 5,000 teams and 100,000 players from almost all of the 50 states since its inception. For more than 20 years its site has been the incomparable athletic fields of the United States Air Force Academy. Twenty-two beautifully manicured grass fields, located on three terraces, are set against a backdrop of Rocky Mountains and clear blue skies. All fields are 75 yds. wide and range in length from 110 yds. to 125 yds.
The 2008 PPI is played over one week with the first part of the week being a College Preview and features teams ages U15-U19 boys and girls. All teams play four regulation-length matches (weather permitting) over the first three days, commencing Monday. with semi-finals and finals on Thursday. The Rising Stars, U11-U14 boys and girls, commence their competition on Thursday, playing four regulation-length games (weather permitting) in three days. Semi-finals and finals are played on Sunday.
The 2008 PPI is ideally formatted to allow coaches to evaluate players for the 2008/2009 season. The tournament accepts Elite and Premier teams and permits six guest players to be included among the 18 players listed on the league roster. In addition, inter-club and intra-club tournament teams are permitted.
Teams are guaranteed four regulation-length games (weather permitting). They are seeded according to strength and geographic balance. Every effort is made to provide opponents from a variety of areas.
Besides keen soccer competition, participants can also enjoy the many tourist opportunities, like white-water river rafting and trips to the top of Pikes Peak.
